Vision :
PATENT will create a European training hub whose stakeholders will be PATENT partners. The portfolio will consist of a cross-institute MSc programme together with CPD courses and a facilities access programme.
The training activity will be funded to resource partners to prepare, optimise and integrate training material into high-value offerings. The programme will be structured to provide added value to providers and clients, attract high student and delegate numbers and hence maximise revenue stream to partners (and maximise access to students).
This collaborative structure aims to deliver to partners the optimal commercialisation route for their skills, and professional coordination of training IP.
WorkPackage 5 will add value to the NoE by :
- increasing the European skill base in MNT,
- attracting benefits to stakeholders,
- increasing the strength of collaboration through pooling relevant IP.
The major outcomes of the workpackage activity will be
- development and dissemination of Training IP,
- enabling access to specialised equipment and supervision for training and project purposes,
- the facilitation of a European MSc.
There will be a Call for Proposals issued in order to recruit experts who will contribute to a European Masters qualification in Design for Manufacturable Microsystems. This will result in a unique and relevant distributed European education programme.
Benefits :
Benefits of this structure to NoE Partners will include:
A unique Masters programme, in that the MSc will be impossible to duplicate by external providers or single institutes, as equipment and experts need to be linked together under a recognised agreement. This ensures that the advantages of the network will not be eroded by external competitors.µ
Automatic access to materials for all partners (but access to the "expert" only if partner is a contributor to the education programme).
A minimum number of students trained, with course presentations structured to ensure fees per student to the participating partners are maximised.
