INDUSTRIAL ADVISORY BOARD The PATENT-DfMM project partners have decided to set up an Industrial Advisory Board (IAB). The IAB provides top-level guidance and feedback to the PATENT-DfMM Project Team, and ensure the work continues to be focussed on actions that are relevant to the needs of European industry. Benefits
The IAB will through their links into the network have faster access to project results, be able to guide/influence
the strategy and project plan of the network, and help to disseminate the DfMM approach into European industry.
It is expected that using the IAB in this sense will be one of the foundations to reach durable integration continuing beyond
the period of EC financial support.
Growing the IAB
The target is to grow this board to 15-25 active companies in the field of DfMM with a balance of small and large companies,
different technology/application areas, design houses, EDA providers, and coverage of European countries, including the ACC.
The initial IAB has been established for 1 year.
Co-ordination of the IAB
The links between the Industry Advisory Board (IAB) and the project will be facilitated through the project's
work package 6 (led by Patric Salomon) in close cooperation with the overall project co-ordinator, Andrew Richardson.
The IAB has elected Benedetto Vigna (ST Microelectronics, Milano/Italy) as the chairperson for the first year.
Meetings
The IAB is expected to meet at least once every 12 month with meetings usually taking place alongside
a general project meeting or public workshop. Furthermore, the IAB members are encouraged to participate in work group
meetings of PATENT-DfMM, provided that their participation is useful for the project. The next IAB meeting is scheduled
for 30 November 2004 (in Leuven/Belgium).
